RHM strengthens its fleet dedicated to terminal operations
A new investment to improve operational efficiency at the terminal
The Contship Group’s inland hub, RHM – Rail Hub Milano, has recently welcomed the arrival of two new CVS Ferrari reach stackers for handling swap bodies, semi-trailers, and containers. The first machine was delivered at the end of December 2024, while the second was received in recent weeks. This investment is part of a broader strategy for terminal development.
The new reach stackers are more advanced than previous models as, in addition to standard equipment — including all hardware systems that allow the reach stackers to interconnect with management software and increase productivity by enhancing automation — they are equipped with an automatic fire suppression system and the exclusive “Energy Saving” feature provided by CVS Ferrari.
Thanks to their high-efficiency engines and specific energy optimization functionality, the new machines can reduce fuel consumption by up to 25% without compromising productivity. This technological improvement not only promotes greener operations but is also crucial for maintaining competitiveness in the sector. The machines are equipped with an onboard computer that optimizes every maneuver, making it more precise, faster, and safer while eliminating unnecessary actions.
Great attention has also been given to operator comfort: the curved, tinted anti-glare windshield ensures better visibility, while the cabin space has been expanded to improve driving ergonomics. Additionally, the onboard computer records data and provides real-time information, assisting with maneuvers and delivering advanced safety insights.

“The purchase of these new machines for the RHM Terminal represents an important milestone for the development of our activities, where fleet renewal is a strategic element ensuring increasingly efficient operations across all phases of the supply chain,” stated Stefano Morelli, Chief Operations Officer Intermodal. “These next-generation machines allow us to speed up handling operations and improve the quality of service offered, better meeting customer needs while placing a strong focus on our operators”.
