La Spezia Container Terminal greets the Vienna Express

In the early hours of last Sunday morning, Contship Italia’s LSCT welcomed another maiden call when the Vienna Express berthed on Fornelli East to commence operations.

With a nominal capacity of 8,600 TEUs and a LOA of 335m, the ship, operated by Hapag-Lloyd, is deployed on the joint THE Alliance (Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express, Yang Ming Line) and Ocean Alliance (CMA CGM, COSCO, OOCL) service (with ZIM Line taking slots), connecting La Spezia with the North American East Coast. It is one of four weekly services between LSCT and the American continent. The Vienna Express is one of six ships deployed in the service and completed operations the next day.
