La Spezia Container Terminal achieves another record-breaking performance

LSCT set a new ‘personal best’ when it handled 6,307 containers – equivalent to 10,053 TEU – during the call of the 15,000 TEU Zephyr Lumos, deployed by Ocean Network Express (ONE) in THE Alliance Asia-Med MD2 service.

Built this year in South Korea, the Zephyr Lumos is 366m in length and 51m wide, with a gross tonnage of almost 150,000 tons and is one of eleven ships connecting La Spezia with the Far East on the MD2 service.

Alfredo Scalisi, CEO at LSCT, said “…notwithstanding the continued positive indications of a recovering market, this extraordinary move count performed on the Zephyr Lumos and beating the previous record by nearly 800 moves, did not cause any issues or challenges alongside or in the terminal yard. Thanks to the experience and commitment shown by all of the people involved, the end result endorsed the reliable service provided by LSCT to our customers, who rely upon us to help preserve the integrity of their networks as well as supporting their customers’ supply chains.”
