Cecilia Eckelmann Battistello presents her book “Il sogno di Cecilia – Una Nave Rosa Attraverso l’Oceano”

Contship Italia Group’s President narrates the challenges and dreams that made her an authoritative personality within the shipping world. The interview will be held in Milan, at Hoepli Bookshop, on February 4th.

Tuesday February 4th, Contship Italia Group’s President, Cecilia Eckelmann Battistello, will present her book “Il sogno di Cecilia – Una Nave Rosa Attraverso l’Oceano” (Cecilia’s dream – a pink ship across the ocean), published by Mondadori.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. at Hoepli International Bookshop, in via Hoepli, 5 – Milan. Mrs. Battistello will be interviewed by Maria Luisa Agnese, journalist at Corriere della Sera and former director of “Sette” and “Specchio” Magazines. Aldo Innocenti, television writer and director and book co-author, will also participate.

In this book, Cecilia tells about herself and her life: her natural curiosity and the need of travelling, her childhood in Vicenza and the arrival at Contship, where she took on multiple roles of growing responsibility, until she became President of the Group, in 1998.

This is the story of a woman who has been able to undertake a courageous career in a male-dominated industry, combining dedication and diplomacy, without giving up her femininity.

Her choice to commission a pink ship is a shining example of her resolution. Despite the team skepticism and her own doubts, this apparently crazy idea shown itself to be a huge promotion for the company’s brand. Contship Germany was indeed the first of a series of pink ships, trains and trucks.

Mrs. Battistello’s extraordinary career has been appreciated and celebrated through some eminent awards. In 2014 Cecilia won the Bellisario Award for the category “Enterpreneurship”, in 2015 she was honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award during the Containerisation International Global Awards Ceremony, and in 2016 she was inserted in Lloyd’s List’s Top 100 Most Influential People for Shipping.

Sometimes the wave of life lifts you up, it pushes your ship, the wind gusts in the same direction, it blows the spinnaker up and you just go. You are at the ship’s wheel, but it’s the wind energy that leads you further, and you feel that incredible and dangerous sensation of ruling the forces of nature.” (Cecilia Eckelmann Battistello)

The book, whose royalties will be donated to charity by the author, will be available from February 4th in all main Italian bookshops and online on Amazon and Libreria Universitaria.
