Breakbulk Dubai: Contship participates alongside the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea
The Group attended the trade fair for the first time alongside operators from the two ports of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara to strengthen the development of the port system on international markets.
Breakbulk Middle East in Dubai, one of the leading international events for the project cargo and breakbulk sector, saw the Contship Group and the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea participate together for the first time, alongside representatives from the port cluster of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara: FHP Terminal Carrara, Terminal del Golfo (Tarros Group), MDC (Dario Perioli Group), and Laghezza Custom & Logistics.
This joint presence demonstrates the solidity of a system built up over time, capable of involving the private sector and generating concrete results for the growth of the port system.
“This international event has once again demonstrated the success of our organization’s collaboration with port operators in the two ports that are part of the System. The fair takes place in an area that represents a strategic bridge between the Mediterranean and the Middle East, with strong links to markets further east, such as India, which are increasingly central to the commercial interests of the EU and our government,” said Bruno Pisano, President of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea.
Events such as Breakbulk Middle East confirm the value of shared strategies and structured collaborations between institutions and operators, which are essential elements for strengthening the international positioning of the Italian logistics and port system and intercepting new opportunities for high value-added traffic. Our presence in Dubai is also of great strategic interest in relation to the growth in activity we expect in the coming years, also in connection with the imminent opening of the new terminal in Damietta, Egypt. This infrastructure is designed to strengthen the integration of logistics chains and offer increasingly efficient and competitive solutions to our customers,” said Cristiano Pieragnolo, Chief Commercial Officer of the Contship Group.
The event represented an important opportunity to consolidate relationships and initiate new commercial collaborations aimed at developing business flows between the Middle East, Far East, and Indian subcontinent, to and from the Mediterranean. These are areas in which the shipping market is booming, with operators interested in gaining a deeper understanding of how the Italian system works and identifying integrated transport, storage, and customs assistance solutions.
In this context, the ports of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara confirm their status as strategic entry points not only for Italy but also for countries in Central and Southern Europe.
During the fair, significant interest was shown by local and international companies and operators, who recognized the Eastern Ligurian Sea cluster as a partner capable of offering high-quality services and concrete responses to the needs of project logistics and beyond, paving the way for future developments.
