Hannibal accelerates operational efficiency: a new investment for internal shuttle operations at the Contship Group’s La Spezia Terminal

Order confirmed for 20 new state-of-the-art terminal tractors that will increase efficiency and safety of port operations

Hannibal is making a new advance in expanding and modernizing its fleet with the confirmation of an order for 20 new terminal tractors for shuttle operations conducted by the Group Contship’s MTO at La Spezia Container Terminal. The delivery of these tractors is scheduled between the end of 2025 and early 2026, which will further renew the vehicle fleet and increase operational efficiency in cargo handling at the port.

Following a first delivery completed in March 2025 of 16 vehicles, Hannibal will deploy another 20 new Terberg YT Series tractors starting next year. These will be supplied by Manuport, the direct Italian subsidiary of the Terberg Group and a long-standing partner of Contship in sales and dedicated equipment service. These latest-generation port tractors feature completely redesigned cabins to ensure maximum comfort and ergonomics for operators on board, along with advanced safety systems and performance monitoring. Additionally, all vehicles include an integrated fuel-saving mode that optimizes consumption based on the weight being moved.

“The purchase of the new vehicles represents a fundamental step in the development and modernization of LSCT: a terminal that is increasingly modern, efficient, and ready to meet the challenges of the future”

Matthieu Gasselin, CEO Contship.

This order is part of a broader ongoing project to expand and develop La Spezia Terminal, which also includes further upgrades to quay equipment and digitalization initiatives.
